Google started rolling out Android 17 QPR1 to Pixel phones and tablets on September 15 as part of the September 2026 Pixel Drop and security update. This is the first Quarterly Platform Release following Android 17’s stable launch in June 2026, and rather a disappointing one, except for one feature: Pause Point.
Pause Point is a fresh addition to Digital Wellbeing, a Pixel app that helps you manage how much time you spend looking at your phone or tablet. It can set time limits on specific apps, count how many times you unlock your phone in a day, and more. Now, with Pause Point, it can also introduce a short delay to every app opening, giving you time to reconsider your impending doomscroll.
Otherwise, Android 17 QPR1 largely consisted of new interface refinements, bug fixes, and security patches, making it not very different from any other monthly update.
