Apple’s M6 MacBook Pro is going to share not one, but two properties with the iPhone. Not only will it have a touch screen, but it is also expected to feature a Dynamic Island, just like iPhones have since the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
This will come with a redesigned macOS interface that can adapt to both touch and traditional input. The new laptops are expected to arrive in late 2026 in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, with OLED displays instead of the current mini-LED panels, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.
Sources say the notch will give way to a pill-shaped cutout that hosts the camera, with a Dynamic Island UI around it. The MacBook’s Dynamic Island is said to be smaller than the iPhone’s to conserve usable screen space, but it should still support the same features as the iPhone, such as timers, media playback, and system alerts.
The new macOS interface should also adapt to touch, with menus and controls expanding to make them easier to tap. Common gestures, like scrolling, fast flicks, and pinch-to-zoom, should work across content such as images, web pages, and PDFs.
These MacBook Pros are rumored to have thinner, lighter designs and Tandem OLED panels, so their prices will likely rise accordingly, especially given everything going on with RAM and storage.
