Nothing Expands Affordable Smartphone Lineup With Phone 4a and 4a Pro

Nothing officially unveiled the Phone 4a and Phone 4a Pro on Thursday, just two weeks after the devices’ European pricing leaked.

The Nothing Phone 4a features a flat, 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K-class resolution. It runs on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with a 5,000mAh battery and 50W wired charging. The phone looks somewhat similar to its predecessor, the Phone 3a, but with a split camera module that includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP 3.5x telephoto camera, and an ultrawide sensor that Nothing didn’t actually elaborate on, but is thought to be 8MP. The selfie camera is 32MP.

The Phone 4a won’t be launching in the US, leaving American consumers with just one option: the Nothing Phone 4a Pro. This model comes with a brighter AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to around 5,000 nits peak brightness. It runs on a more powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC with the same RAM and storage options as the 4a. While the 4a Pro’s camera module only differs from that of the 4a in that its 50MP sensor is a Samsung GN9, not a Sony LYT700C, the back of the 4a Pro includes a larger version of the Phone 3’s “Glyph Matrix.” (That’s the small, round display on the back of the phone, which uses symbols to represent different notifications.) The 4a Pro costs $499 or $599, depending on what RAM and storage options you select.

Preorders for the Phone 4a opened March 5, with the 4a Pro to follow on March 13.
