The iPhone Fold is expected to be unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in September.
Better late than never. This seems to be Apple’s motto when it comes to foldable phones. Almost seven years after Samsung launched its first foldable device, Apple is finally preparing to introduce its own foldable iPhone. While Apple has been late to the party, it might have something up its sleeve that makes the wait worthwhile.
So far, we’ve heard numerous rumors about Apple’s first foldable iPhone and its alleged specifications. The latest hint comes from a leaker on the Korean platform NAVER, who has shared a schematic image of the iPhone Fold along with its measurements.
While previous rumors suggested the iPhone Fold would be 9.6mm thick, the Korean leaker claims the device is 9.23mm when folded. Additionally, the maximum thickness, including the camera bump, is said to reach 13mm. Finally, the leaker states that the iPhone Fold will launch in black and silver color options.

Based on the schematic image, the foldable iPhone appears to adopt a passport-style design and is expected to feature two rear camera sensors. The device is also rumored to come with a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.3-inch outer screen. However, the relatively small size of the outer display could be a drawback for some users.
Another tipster has also provided further hints about the iPhone Fold’s launch date. It was previously reported that Apple may change its iPhone release cycle in 2026, launching the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max alongside the foldable iPhone in September, while pushing the standard iPhone 18 and the more affordable iPhone 18e to later in the year.
Renowned tipster Ice Universe on X has now shared an AI-generated image of Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, with a foldable iPhone in the background, suggesting that Ternus is the one to introduce the device, possibly branded as the iPhone Ultra.
While the leaker hasn’t provided an exact launch timeframe for the iPhone Ultra, a combination of reports from various sources suggests that Apple’s first foldable iPhone is more likely to be unveiled as early as September this year.
