SanDisk Announces ‘Made for Meta’ Expandable Storage for VR Glasses

SanDisk announced this week that it will serve as the exclusive storage partner for Meta’s upcoming VR Glasses. The company plans to launch official “Made for Meta” microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives at the same time the headset reaches stores in spring 2027.

SanDisk made these products with help from Meta and tested them to work with Meta VR Glasses. The accessories will have the “Made for Meta” label and will be available in every market where Meta sells the headset.

Meta VR Glasses are expected to include 128GB of internal storage and cost $1,300. Rumor has it the headset will support microSD cards up to 1TB, but SanDisk hasn’t shared details on speed class or pricing. USB-C flash drives will also be available.

SanDisk didn’t say whether Meta will block non-certified cards or whether USB-C drives will support all the same functions as microSD slots. But for anyone keen to snap up a pair of Meta VR Glasses in the spring, news of official expandable storage likely comes as a relief; after all, 128GB of internal storage isn’t much.
