Valheim Best World Seeds to Try

Valheim’s world generation creates a different map for each seed, but there isn’t one officially designated “best” seed. Instead, players can choose seeds that offer particular layouts, such as large starting continents, nearby bosses and traders, or more opportunities for sailing.

With Valheim now at version 1.0, older seed recommendations also need to be treated carefully because changes to world generation can alter the locations of points of interest.

What Are the Best Valheim Seeds?

A Valheim seed is the value used to generate a world’s terrain and locations. Players can enter a specific seed when creating a new world instead of leaving the game to generate one automatically. This makes it possible to share particular world layouts with other players.

The definition of a “best” seed depends on what you’re looking for. A convenient seed might put several bosses, boars, and traders relatively close to the starting area, while another might be better suited to players who want large continents, less bears, and less sailing. Community testing following Valheim’s 1.0 release has already produced seeds covering both approaches.

One example is QaSMR7ne5d, which players have checked in Valheim 1.0 and reported as having the first five bosses accessible by walking or short boat trips, alongside three traders on the same general route. Another community-tested seed, jaPQMKvouM, places all three traders relatively close to the starting area, although some later boss locations require more travel.

For players who want a large starting landmass, Vaaltorin has also been highlighted by the Valheim community as a 1.0 seed with a particularly large continuous starting continent, multiple mountain ranges and several biomes accessible without immediately relying on a boat.

These are community recommendations rather than official rankings, so their usefulness depends on the type of playthrough you want.

Seed What it offers
QaSMR7ne5d First five bosses accessible by walking or short boat trips, with three traders along the route.
wxn9MRnL98 Large starting island with a lake and Hook Mountain, easy access to the first four bosses and three traders clustered to the north.
Vaaltorin A particularly large starting landmass with mountain ranges, multiple seas and rivers. The first four bosses can reportedly be reached without sailing.
Rng4KglXLG Starts on a small continent with two traders and three bosses, while two additional bosses are on a nearby large island.
32XzC2DTi9 A community-recommended 1.0 seed described as offering a strong exploration-focused world with substantial sailing.

Which Valheim Seed Should You Use?

If you want a relatively convenient playthrough, community-tested seeds such as 2z2pYbipdc (six bosses on one landmass) are worth considering. If exploration and building are more important, larger starting continents such as the one reported for Vaaltorin can give you more room to establish a base before sailing farther afield.

It’s also worth remembering that Valheim’s seed system isn’t simply about finding a map with everything close to spawn. Some players specifically look for worlds with more ocean, unusual terrain or challenging starting locations. The community has already begun cataloging 1.0 seeds for these different purposes, including seeds designed around sailing and large bodies of water.

Version matters when using a shared seed. Community testing around the 1.0 release found that some older seed lists no longer matched their previous descriptions because Iron Gate changed how locations are placed. One 1.0 seed discussion specifically notes that the landmass could remain similar while bosses, traders, and other points of interest moved.

That means there’s no permanent list of the best Valheim seeds. If you’re starting a new world, make sure a recommended seed has been checked against your current version before committing to it. For a completely blind playthrough, leaving the seed random is still an option, but using a tested seed can give you more control over the kind of world you’ll explore.
